Consulting services

Six ways the practice plugs in.

Engagements range from a focused failure-analysis sprint to a multi-quarter programme that takes a new formulation from bench to OEM approval.
01Service

Technical & R&D Strategy

End-to-end product roadmaps from concept to production, scaled to the size of the organisation and the product family being developed, manufactured and marketed.

02Service

OEM & Aftermarket Entry Strategy

Go-to-market roadmaps for entering new OEM programmes or aftermarket channels — covering approval pathways, distributor and dealer qualification, and regional homologation across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

03Service

Lab Setup & Optimisation

Design verification labs (bench-scale, analytical, instrumentation) and design validation labs covering dynamometer, vehicle and field testing.

04Service

Troubleshooting & Failure Analysis

Forensic investigation using Design FMEA, Process FMEA, cause-and-effect, fault-tree analysis and the QC story approach.

05Service

Material Development

New formulations targeted to vehicle application (trucks, buses, tippers), terrain and regulation — European, North American or Japanese.

06Service

Training & Mentorship

Hands-on programmes on PPAP, APQP, new product development, SQC/SPC, troubleshooting and braking systems for junior to senior R&D teams.

Career

From graduate trainee to vice president — and beyond.

A continuous arc inside one of India's leading friction industries, with deliverables that reached European and North American markets.
  1. Graduate Trainee

Began career in the friction industry R&D division, learning formulation, manufacturing and validation from the ground up.

  2. Senior Manager — R&D

Led formulation development programmes and process establishment for commercial vehicle drum linings and disc pads.

  3. Assistant General Manager — R&D

Expanded scope into raw material development and validation infrastructure, including dynamometer and vehicle testing.

  4. General Manager — R&D

Secured ECE R90 regulatory approval for the European aftermarket and delivered OEM approvals for Tata Motors, Daimler India, Eicher Motors and Ashok Leyland.

    Milestone — ECE R90 approval & 4 OEM approvals
  5. Vice President — R&D

Owned the full R&D charter — formulation, process, validation, mentorship — across passenger and commercial vehicle programmes for Indian and international markets.

  6. Independent Consultant

Now advising deep-tech startups, OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers on friction, tribology and composite material programmes worldwide.

Sustainability & the future of friction

Greener chemistries. Quieter EVs. Tighter regulations.

Copper- & lead-free formulations

Replacement of regulated metals with metal sulfide systems and other globally proven combinations, integrated into production-ready formulations.

Carbon fibre composites

High-strength carbon fibres now play a vital role in modern friction material development — improving wear, fade and structural performance.

Euro 6 / 7 & REACH compliance

Raw material selection and product validation aligned with global hazardous-substance regulations; OEM-fitted parts certified for Euro 6.

EV braking & noise control

Early-stage development for electric vehicles, with primary focus on the noise and NVH characteristics that emerge under regenerative braking.

Where I work

Engagements across three regions.

North America

Aftermarket, OEM and startup engagements aligned with FMVSS and SAE standards. Async-friendly, with a 2-hour weekly synchronous overlap.

Europe

Programmes shaped around ECE R90, REACH and Euro 6/7 compliance. Long-running experience supplying European aftermarket and OEM partners.

India & Asia-Pacific

On-the-ground availability for OEM and Tier-1 R&D, lab setup and training across India, ASEAN, Japan and Korea.
